Sungai Lembing (river)



SUNGAI LEMBING

The Sungai Lembing Mine is restored to retrospect the glorious days of Sungai Lembing as Pahang’s richest manufacturer of tin. Sungai Lembing is prominent in the history of Pahang, and once dubbed as the El-Dorado of the east. Part of the mine is refurbished and is now opened for visitors. The total tunnel length is 322 km, with a depth of between 610 m and 700 m.

The conservation and preservation originality of the mine and it original settings bring the visitors to witnessthe glorious era of Sungai Lembing. Since the mine is located beneath a tropical rainforest, visitors will be able to experience a unique cooling climate in the tunnels.Visitors will ride “The Minecraft” to enter the the mine. Then the expedition will continue on foot. It takesapproximately an hour to complete the tour. The tunnel height is ranged from 12 feet to 200 feet.Children are allowed to enter with parents or guardians.

This natural attraction also comes with Educational Trip that specially designed for educational purposes. The purpose of the trip is usually observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities, such as going camping with teachers and their classmates.

Besides that, nearby Sungai Lembing is Bukit Panorama which is a popular place to watch the sunrise. Sixteen kilometers from this place is GunungTapis Nature Park, where one can camp, fish, and shoot the rapids. GunungTapis itself is 1,512 meters high.

Surprisingly, infamous Rainbow Fall can be reached from SungaiLembing too. Transport to the fall can be arranged in the town, you need a 4WD if you want to go on your own. A guide is useful, although not really needed. You have to start early, as the rainbow can only be seen in the morning. It is a one hour drive from the town to the trail head, followed by about 45 minutes of easy trekking to the fall.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Car

From Kuala Lumpur, use the East Coast Highway to get to Kuantan and the drive takes about three hours. Exit at Kuantan Toll Plaza, turn right at the first traffic lights and follow the directions on the signboard. Sungai Lembing is about 30 minutes’ drive away.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Road
From the North-South Expressway (PLUS), get off at the Sungkai Toll Exit and turn left at the junction. Just 1km down the trunk road, turn left and follow the signs. The park is just after the Sungai Klah FELDA village.
