Botanical Garden Putrajaya (Garden)

PUTRAJAYA BOTANICAL GARDENS
Putrajaya Botanical Gardens is a must-see attraction if you are visiting the beautiful city of Putrajaya. There are several major parks in the city which is sometimes referred to as a 'City in the Garden'. The biggest botanical garden in Malaysia covers an area over 92 hectares. The park is divided into three sections - flowers, ornamental plants and preservation/research purposes.
The garden is divided into different themes such as Explorer's Trail, Palm Hill, Floral Gardens, Sun Garden and the Lakeside.
The garden currently has more than 700 species of flowering plants, local plants as well as plants from the Asia-Pacific and Africa regions. The area also serves as a research centre, with its multi-purpose collection. Kids will be delighted with the huge collection and exotic flowers, and educationists will be able to see many species of plants at the research centre.
The landscaping includes a canopy bridge, a huge sundial, covered walkways, a lake boardwalk, gazebos and picnic shelters. Other attractions include cycle hire, boating, an interactive exhibition and a tram ride for which separate fees apply. There is also a Visitors' Interpretative Centre (VIC), explorer's trail, palm hill, sun and floral gardens for visitors wishing to experience more from the Botanical Garden. Take home some interesting collections from its quaint gift shop offering environmentally friendly souvenirs.
The Botanical Gardens are in the heart of the city close to the Istana Melawati (royal palace) and within walking distance of the Putrajaya Shangri-La Hotel. Plenty of parking is available. You will no doubt be in need of refreshment after wandering around in all this fresh air. The Putrajaya Seafood Restaurant occupies a prime position on the lake front from where you can get a great view of the Prime Minister's office complex building.
